One Powerful Way to Embrace Yourself

If you are looking to embrace yourself, just as you are, right now, in your authentic self, look no further than an empowerment (aka boudoir) photography session at Show Your Spark by Lindsay Hite in Braintree MA.

Women arrive at the Show Your Spark studio looking to discover or rediscover parts of themselves hidden behind years of societal expectations and negative self-perceptions. A day in our studio flips the script for many of our clients. The portraits created in our studio provide women the opportunity to see themselves as they truly are; beautiful and empowered.

Our Spark Sessions provide one stop in our clients’ journeys to fully embrace themselves. The transformation begins in our client’s hearts and minds well before they arrive at our studio. We simply give them the tools to shine so brightly they will never want to dim their lights again. Through the artistry of professional hair and makeup, personalized wardrobe and scene selections, and top-notch photography, we collaborate with our clients to create an experience and portraits that impacts our clients’ everyday lives well after their time in our studio.

You won’t want to miss the powerful story of how a Spark Session helped a recent Spark Alumna to embrace herself fully, perhaps for the first time.

In her own words….

“Now is the most authentic version of myself I have ever been.”

I am a loving daughter, sister, friend, and dog mom. I am most proud of my resilience and bravery. I am a trans woman who came out in my early thirties. I never thought I would have the courage to come out and be my authentic self. I thought nobody would understand and I would be rejected. I thought I was too tall and too masculine to ever be taken seriously as a woman. Although some people may still think that, I know that it is not true. I know that I am a real woman. The person people see when they look at me now is the most authentic version of myself I have ever been. I know that I have people in my life that love me for who I am. They have given me the gift of loving my friends and family even more.

“I take pride in the things that make me unique.”

Being a trans woman can be isolating because I have never been able to relate to men and I have a hard time relating to women. But I would like to push myself here to start thinking about that differently. My life experience is different from most women’s. I can’t change that, but I have experienced things many other women have not. My gender journey has given me insight into the lives, joys, pains, and sorrows that people of all genders experience. My experiences help me be a more emphatic and loving person. I should take pride in the things that make me unique and not hate myself for them.

“We should all be exactly what our soul tells us we are.”

I think everyone experiences life transitions, not just trans people. But for us, our change is very visible. I hope I can share with the world, and all my cis friends, that we should all have the right to be exactly who we want to be in this short life. Whether you are transitioning from a shy person to an extrovert, a couch potato to a fitness enthusiast, or a saint to a sinner, we should all be exactly what our soul tells us we are. Wanna be both? Do it! Want to change your name to Moonbeam? I encourage it! We owe it to ourselves. Don’t stay in your closet to appease people in your life. If you give them the chance, they might love who you really are even more. Everyone deserves that opportunity.

“My Spark Experience made me optimistic about a future full of authentic experiences.”

As a trans person, it is hard to avoid cycling in regret for the life I never had and never will. Transitioning later in life cost me all of my girlhood and young womanhood experiences. Because of this, I do not have many pictures of myself. All of my old pictures, including the ones that decorate my parents’ living room show a version of me that I no longer am and feel disconnected from. Disconnected is not even the right word, dysphoric would be more accurate. My goal in booking a spark session was to have nice pictures of myself that would make me feel happy and be able to share with my loved ones. (Most of the pictures anyways 😉)

I cried euphoric tears of happiness when I saw my photos for the first time. I finally saw myself wearing some of my favorite nice dresses as if dressed for a major life moment like a wedding or graduation. I am so happy to be able to share these pictures of myself and so grateful for how the Spark Experience has made me feel. I felt like I got to live one of those major life moments as a woman. Now I am optimistic about a future full of authentic experiences.

“I am so happy with how my portraits turned out.”

I was super nervous leading up to my Spark Session. I am painfully shy and don’t like to put myself out there. I was particularly nervous about the boudoir photos because I do not have a great relationship with my body. Thankfully, Lindsay made me feel welcomed and comfortable from the beginning. We started with headshots and formal wear during which I began to have a lot of fun posing for the camera. By the time the boudoir photoshoot started, I was totally relaxed and in the moment. I was so happy with how they turned out!

“The whole day felt like a magical experience tailored exactly for me.”

The whole day was so wonderful; it is hard to pick a favorite moment. The first three outfits were shot in the front of the studio in natural sunlight. The laid-back pop music playing in the background really captured the moment. I felt comfortable and beautiful. For the final photos, we went into the back in a darker setting with stage lighting. We put on some European techno and I felt like I was in a Belgian underground discotheque. It was exactly the energy I needed. I had so much fun throughout the whole photoshoot. Finally, at the end of the day, I got to sit down with Michelle to view my pictures. I couldn’t stop crying tears of joy. The whole day felt like a magical experience tailored exactly for me.

“The things that make me different do not make me ugly.”

I carried a lot of confidence out of my Spark Session. I still need to work very hard to love myself and my appearance but my Spark Experience has definitely helped. I do not look or sound like a cis woman, and this causes me pain and always will, but I know I have a foothold to build from. The things that make me different do not make me ugly. If my differences push people away from me that is fine because I know it has attracted friendships and opened doors to experiences I would have never had in the closet. Life is not perfect, but it is all we have. We need to make the most of it, not just for ourselves but for everyone else too. Self-love leads to being better at spreading love. Lindsay has helped me tap into loving myself better.
