7 Reasons Single Women Should Consider Boudoir Photography As An Act Of Self-Love

Did you know that you don’t need to be in a relationship to book a boudoir session?

That’s right! Single women should consider boudoir photography– as an act of self-love.

Countering a Common Objection

“But I don’t have a partner!” is one of the most frequent objections we hear from women considering boudoir photography. This question is similar to “If I don’t have a partner, who would the photos be for?” and “Why would I do this for only myself?”

We understand those questions due to traditional boudoir photography marketing.

However, at Show Your Spark, after working with hundreds of clients we’ve noticed something very important. Even those who initially came to Show Your Spark to create a gift for a partner tell us that THEY were the ones to receive the biggest gift out of the experience.

Sneak Peek: You deserve to have a boudoir session because YOU matter regardless of your relationship status!

But first…. A story.

A Story of Self-Care and Empowerment

When was the last time you devoted an entire day to yourself? Can you remember? It can be a challenge to carve out an entire day away from work, family, and life demands. But can you imagine what it would feel like to spend an entire day being cared for by others?

Picture this:

You arrive at the Show Your Spark studio nervous but excited. You are welcomed warmly by founder and photographer, Lindsay Hite, and Hair and Makeup Artist, Michelle DeVoe. They give you a tour of the studio. Then you chat and discuss the day ahead and your vision for your photography session. Drinks and snacks are offered. Then, you are whisked off to the hair and makeup chair where Michelle works her magic to bring about your desired look.

While receiving hair and makeup, Lindsay creates the set list, pairing your chosen wardrobe outfits with our sets and bonus scenes. She runs the list by you for your approval. You grow with excitement about the upcoming photography session.

With hair and makeup complete, you spin around to look in the mirror and are blown away. You look like yourself, but the best version of yourself. (Think, “Best hair day ever!”)

Then it’s off to the photography session. You slip into your first outfit while Lindsay cranks up the music on her empowering playlist. You are still nervous, but Lindsay guides you into all the poses with ease and joy. She takes a few pictures. Then she shows you a sneak peek.

“Wow! That’s me!? How?”

You begin to feel more confident and engaged in the posing process. With time, you begin to own the space and feel your spirit enliven with each click of the camera.

“Who knew being in front of a camera could be so fun!”

Before you know it, your photography session is complete. Now you get to rest, kick your feet up, and eat lunch while Lindsay edits your photos. Full of anticipation, you patiently (or not so patiently) wait to see your photos on the big screen for a cinematic preview of your portraits.

Finally, the time has come. You move into the premiere room. The lights are dimmed and a box of tissues sits nearby. (You wonder what those are for!) Then the music begins and your portraits grace the big screen. You are moved to tears to see yourself so full of confidence, joy, strength, beauty, poise, and life.

You realize that this experience was not only a day away from the chaos of life but was a red-letter day. Today was the day when you finally saw yourself as the incredible person you have always been but haven’t before had the eyes to see.

As the music fades into the background, and several tissues have wiped away your tears, you feel changed. The person you’ve been hiding from others out of fear of being rejected is ready to step out from behind the shadows. You are ready to be seen, loved, and accepted not just by others, but by yourself!

Now comes the challenging part–choosing which portraits to design into artwork that will enhance your home.

“How can I choose? When I first arrived, I wasn’t sure I would like a single photo and now I love them all!”

You look through all the photos again, with our design consultant, who gives you thought prompts to help you decide. You select the portraits that evoke strong positive emotions.

Imagining what it will feel like in a month, a year, or five years to look back on these empowering photos, you design your album and additional artwork out of your selected portraits. The most impactful images you into wall art or tabletop artwork to give that little boost of confidence on your most challenging days.

With your artwork design completed, you make your goodbyes and depart from the studio. As if walking on clouds, your feet don’t seem to touch the pavement as you walk back to your car.

“Did that just happen? Did I just do that? Was that really me on the screen? What am I going to do with this sense of empowerment now? That woman on the screen was powerful. If I’m that woman, (which I am) then I’m sure can do anything I set my mind to!”

This is the Spark Experience. Can you see now why we say you don’t need a partner to have a boudoir session and benefit from the Experience?

7 Reasons Single Women Should Consider Boudoir Photography

You don’t need a partner to book a boudoir session because a boudoir session is an opportunity for you to:

  1. Indulge in a full day of pampering in celebration of who you are!
  2. Embrace the opportunity to see and reclaim the best version of yourself.
  3. Celebrate a milestone in your life– a new chapter, an obstacle overcome, a new year, a new job, or a new you!
  4. Express the fullness of your personhood and explore different sides of yourself.
  5. Push past your comfort zone into new experiences that challenge your perceptions of your limitations.
  6. Practice self-acceptance by embracing who you (and your body) are at this moment in time. (Hint: You are perfect as you are!)
  7. Empower other women to do the same!

Notice what each of these reasons for (aka benefits of) a Spark Experience don’t require?

That’s right! They don’t require having a partner to gift them to!

Your experience, photos, and artwork can be for you and you alone! There is no need to share them with anyone unless you want to. How empowering is that!

The Spark Experience is an act of self-love.

When we love someone, how do we treat them? We show them kindness, attention, and care. We often give them our time, acceptance, and heartfelt gifts.

Guess what? When you say “Yes” to a boudoir session, you show yourself love!

  • You are saying “yes” to being seen–receiving attention, kindness, and care from yourself and the Show Your Spark team.
  • You are giving yourself time away from the fray of life and time to rest, refresh, and rejuvenate.
  • You are gifting yourself the opportunity to embrace and accept who you are as you are now.
  • You are giving yourself tangible reminders for years to come through your artwork selections of who you are and can be as you dream and plan for your future.
  • You are saying “yes” to seeing yourself differently and rewriting past narratives.
